This Monastic Life

No
burlesque
vocation,
this monastic
life. Avocation
of rule in silence tread
whilst physical pursuits renounced,
spiritual devotions invoke
mercy, since prayer and meditation
fail to squelch- the itch of woolen robes.

An Etheree written in response to Helene’s What Do You See? photo prompt, and Colleen’s Tanka Tuesday #synonyms only for Hobby and Play, my choices are italicized.

  1. Too many minds create their own less than perfect sanctuaries.
Moderation in communication and communion of spirit seems a good thing to be called for.
Mercy and grace are needed by all. Nice Etheree.

  2. Lovely Etheree Violet. “spiritual devotions invoke
    mercy, since prayer and meditation
fail to squelch- the itch of woolen robes.”
    Precious meaning in these words.
